Getafix’s indirectness was aimed to ask Spartakis for a “ride” to Atlantis. Getafix wasn’t too close to Spartakis so he tried to ask him in a very indirect way. He tried to safe his face too, because it seemed like he didn’t want Spartakis to reject his request. Even at first, Getafix had to praise Spartakis’ ability. Spartakis’ indirectness was to imply that all of Greeks were good sailor. The second indirectness from Spartakis implied his disbelief in Atlantis (Greek believed that Atlantis sank in the ocean- as Plato told them).
